Kathmandu: Khaptad National Park is a protected area established in 1984 on the advice of Khaptad Baba.
Khaptad Baba Ashram is a famous religious site located in the central part of Khaptad National Park.Devotees come here every year on the full moon day to worship Lord Shiva and a big fair is held in the area.

Khaptad National Park is located in the Seti region of western Nepal. The national park covers an area of 225 square kilometers in Doti, Bajura, Bajhang and Achham districts.
The national park has famous religious sites like Saleshwari, Khaptad Baba’s Ashram, Ramarosan and Badimalika. Where it is equipped with green hills, roofs, big fields and streams.

The protected area of the park is covered with 224 types of medicinal herbs, 567 species of flowering plants, red gourds and various types of trees and shrubs.Khaptad National Park is famous for bird watching.
The park is home to 270 species of birds including Bulbul, Cuckoo, Eagle, Danphe, as well as various species of wild animals such as leopard, deer, wild dog, squirrel, mountain black bear, monkey, langur, musk deer.

The climate in this region is cold and dry in summer and cold and humid in winter.
In summer the temperature ranges from 0 to 20 degrees Celsius, while in winter the temperature drops below 0 degrees Celsius and is covered with snow.
The best time to visit this park is from autumn to November and from spring to autumn. During the autumn, various festivals are organized, while in the spring, when the weather is clear, the Api and Saipal mountain ranges can be observed.

To reach Khaptad National Park, one can reach Kailali by air or land from Kathmandu. After a 9-hour journey by road from Attaria Junction in Kailali, the entrance to Khaptad reaches Silgadhi Bazaar in Doti district.
