Kathmandu: The train that came to Nepal has been taken back to India due to lack of necessary preparations to operate the Janakpur-Jayanagar railway under construction for the last one and a half years.

Although the 34-kilometer-long railway was tested on Friday, Nepal did not provide the required manpower and the two railway sets were taken back to India.

The service has not been able to operate even after the arrival of new trains due to non-recruitment of technical and administrative staff required for the operation of trains and non-completion of the process of bringing railway engineers from India.

Nepal Railway Company Limited has issued notice on September 13 to appoint 139 employees. The company has called for applications for contract services within 15 days.

It seems to take one and a half to two months to complete the process. The company has stated that the decision will be made within a week for the employees to be brought from India.

The company has stated that it has to be sent back to Jayanagar to run the train from time to time as it may damage the parts if the train is parked. It will take about a month and a half to operate the train regularly.

As the company started the process of hiring staff late, the ready-made trains became unusable immediately.
